History
Beckett & Kay was formed in April 2002 by Peter Beckett and Richard Kay. The partners first worked together over ten years previously at Kemp & Hawley, a firm of general practice chartered surveyors, then based in Covent Garden.
In 1997, Peter left Kemp
& Hawley to set up as a sole practitioner, initially
based in Harrow, and subsequently moving to Holborn.
Richard remained with Kemp & Hawley, which in 1998
was merged with Stiles Harold Williams, where he became
responsible for the day-to-day running of the London
Property Management department, acting for clients such
as the Bedford Estate, the Royal Albert Hall, Tishman
International, and Challenger Property Management.
Peter is an RICS Registered Property Receiver and on
the Council of Non-administrative Receivers' Association
("NARA"). He's a member of the Dilapidations
Working Party of the RICS, and the group which redrafted
RICS Guidance Note on dilapidations - 4th edition.
He's on the President's Panel of Independent Experts
(Dilapidations Disputes). He's also a member of
the Leasehold Reform Working Group of the RICS responsible
for Valuation Information Paper no 7 on Leasehold Reform.
Beckett & Kay now
manage property portfolios for private investors and
trusts, with a total rent roll of some £2.5 million
per annum. They have also established themselves as
specialists in the fields of leasehold enfranchisement
and valuations for damage to the reversion in dilapidations
cases.
Having initially been based
in Regent Street, the firm moved to larger offices
in Savile Row in 2004.
